Download MusexPress CMS

Download MusexPress CMS and install it.

Please keep in mind that if you wanna use the new version, you need to update all of the MusexPress widgets in your Muse project (to the new version) to be sure that everything will work correctly on your site.

Download the Dynamic Menu Plugin

Download the Dynamic Menu Plugin from here. After the unzip you will find two folders: Widgets and Plugin.

In the plugin folder you can find the zip file that you need to use to install the Menu plugin on WordPress.

In the widgets folder you can find the mulib file that includes all the Adobe Muse widgets that allow to design your menu.

Install the Plugin

Go to the WordPress admin panel and go to the “plugins” menu. Click on the “add new” button on the top and then upload the plugin.

Select the Musexpress-dynamic-menu.zip file from the plugin folder and then click on the “install now” button. Wait for the installation and then activate the plugin.

Create a new Menu

After the Plugin installation process you will find a new section into the admin panel menu: “Appearance“. Hover on it and click on “Menus“.

To create a new menu insert a “menu name” in the form and click on “Create Menu” button.

This name must be the same in the widget menu on your Muse project. If different, the menu doesn’t work on Muse, so pay attention to this step.

You can add, remove or edit infinite links and sub-links from your menu in a few clicks.

You can manage all menus you created from the list on the top of the page.

Dynamic Menu widgets

From the widget folder double click on the mulib files to install it on Adobe Muse. Then go to the library panel. You can find a folder called MusexPress - Dynamic Menu with two widgets:

The first one is the slide menu showing sub-links with an animated slide effect.

The second is the accordion menu showing the sub-links as a typical accordion entrance.

Slide Menu Widget

You can choose to show three different menus:

The WordPress Menu: the menu you create in WordPress, like the one we’ve seen previously;

The Blog Categories: if you already have a Blog Plugin installed, you can decide to show all the Blog Categories in the menu automatically;

The Shop Categories: if you already have WooCommerce for Muse installed, you can decide to show all the Shop Categories in the menu automatically.

To have a working Menu you need to insert here the same Menu name you assigned in WordPress.

You can also choose to make the Menu breadcrumbs visible to show the entire path and create a more user friendly navigation.

On the basis of the kind of menu you have chosen, a different style section will activate. Here you can customize the menu style as you prefer.

You can change the Menu font directly from the Muse Text Menu but note that you need to use the Hyperlinks menu to change the links status colours.

Accordion Menu widget

This menu is very much like the previous one. The only difference is that the breadcrumbs section is not available in this menu type.

Upload the Muse Template

Once your website design is finished, click on the File menu and then “upload to FTP hosting”. We insert our FTP credentials and continue. Now we have to insert the site URL. Pay attention to the “folder on server section”. That’s a very important step to have MusexPress working properly. You need to insert here the same WordPress installation path as completed before (either in root folder or in subfolder) and add /mxp_theme. We’re ready to go to the next steps. In the Upload section select “All files” if you’re uploading MusexPress for the first time. Then you can choose “only modified files”. Click ok. You will see an FTP validation alert. Don’t worry about that. Click on Ignore and wait for the website upload.

Convert all Pages

Once the upload is completed, go to your WordPress admin panel.

Go to MusexPress menu and click in the pages converter. Select all the pages and click on the convert button.
